Atlas Cold Storage

Sikeston, MO

One of Immel’s sources of repeat work is the temperature-controlled supply chain industry.

We have developed a number of cold storage facilities for clients throughout the Midwest. Immel has served as construction manager for Atlas Cold Storage’s (now Americold) new freezer facilities in Sikeston, Missouri, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and Appleton, Wisconsin.

The Sikeston project provided 153,000 square foot of freezer space capable of maintaining temperatures of -20 degrees F. Almost 10 miles of tubing were utilized in the under floor refrigeration system. The 171,000 square foot project also included distribution services of 13 truck docks, 9,000 square feet of offices, and storage racks for 20,000 pallet positions. Building materials consisted of nearly one quarter-million cubic feet of concrete, 2,152,500 board feet of insulation, and 2.3 million pounds of roof ballast.
